On this very snowy day we thought we'd talk about happier times in the sunshine! With summer approaching many people are thinking about getting their boats ready to hit the water. Here are a few tips that will help make your boating experience much more enjoyable and safe. The DNR (Department of Natural Resources) are on the water patrolling at all times and they may pull you over to make sure you’re following boater safety rules. If you are one of the “lucky” ones that gets checked you will be asked to show the following: Proof of boat registration, life jackets for the number of passengers on your boat (it’s always a good idea to have a few extra), throw-able flotation device, working horn or a sound producing device, and working navigation lights and flares. However, be careful with the flares! They do have an expiration date and if they are expired the DNR may not let you continue on your venture.
Happy boating! For more tips please call your friends in the insurance business.
