As we continue on with this very long and very cold winter, take a moment to make sure you have an emergency kit in your vehicle in case you are forced to spend an extended period of time in your car. Nobody expects to be stuck in their vehicle, but things can happen: breaking down, getting stuck, unexpected bad weather or running out of fuel.
Some items to keep in your emergency kit include: a heavy blanket or sleeping bag, bottled water (smaller bottles work better because they can be thawed much easier), extra winter clothing (hats ,gloves, scarves), a flashlight to be able to signal for help, a bag of sand (can help if you are stuck by putting under the tires), and snacks.
We hope that you and your families are never in a situation that requires you to need an emergency car kit, but if you are you will be glad you took a few moments to put one together.
