Before I joined the insurance industry, there wasn't a word that made my eyes glaze over more than "insurance." The world of insurance was nebulous to me, reserved for adults only, and something adults would prefer not to discuss over a good meal. This paradigm pervaded well into my twenties, until I found myself entering the insurance field, and my state of "insurance arrested development" was forever changed.
I feel confident saying that I could have lumped myself in with the majority of people who view insurance as a drain on the wallet and something good drivers (since none of us our bad drivers) should be required to get. Or, life insurance, who even thinks about life insurance in their invincible twenties? It wasn't until I was some time into my insurance career that I realized how important it is to have good insurance, and an agent that works for you.
There are a lot of insurance companies out there that will sell you policies that look like they were pulled out of a Cracker Jack box. They are selling you on price, not coverage. They treat you as a commodity when you should not be. Who is your agent and personal account representative over there? If you called in to us at any given moment, we could tell you exactly who your agent and personal account representative is.
It's ok to find insurance as uninteresting as I did, just don't let it get to the point where you stop caring about what kind of coverage you have. It really could make a big difference in your life.
